China Arts and Entertainment Group proudly presents two Peking Opera productions Legend of the White Snake and The Jewelry Pursestarring the acclaimed artist Zhang Huoding and performed by the National Academy of Chinese Theatre Arts. The two performances will be presented at the David H. Koch Theater (Lincoln Center) from September2-3. It is the first time that Zhang Huoding has ever performed these two productions outside of China.
Zhang Huoding, a professor of the National Academy of Chinese Theare Arts, is the most popular Peking Opera star in China nowadays. As a standout inheritor of Cheng School of Peking Opera, she is not only skilled in the classics of Cheng School including The Jewelry Purse and Reunion in the Dream, meanwhile she initiated and created many new productions with graceful bearing of Cheng School like Legend of the White Snakeand The Butterfly Lovers.

The 2015-16 Season is flush with treasures from the Company’s diverse repertoire — 56 ballets, including an astonishing seven world premieres. Just as impressive is a musical repertory with 45 composers, two newly commissioned scores, and the debut of recently appointed Music Director Andrew Litton. Fall opens September 22 with a week-long run of Peter Martins' Swan Lake. Seven world premieres from Justin Peck, Troy Schumacher, Robert Binet, Myles Thatcher, Kim Brandstrup, and Christopher Wheeldon — plus commissioned scores from Bryce Dessner and Ellis Ludwig-Leone and an artistic collaboration with visual artist Marcel Dzama — highlight the Company’s commitment to the creation of new works. Other highlights include beloved classics from Balanchine and Robbins, encore performances of Peter Martins' La Sylphide, and Balanchine's opulent masterpiece Jewels.

The Joyce Theater Foundation is proud to present Twyla Tharp, one of the century’s most treasured artists, as she celebrates fifty years of dance making with a program of all new work. The double bill of premieres begins with a vibrant introductory FANFARE followed by PRELUDES AND FUGUES, set to J.S. Bach’s The Well-Tempered Clavier. The dance radiates with Tharp’s generous spirit, humanity, and rigor. YOWZIE, the second premiere, is a humorous work set to a wild, raucous, and jazzy score.
